Tinting 2005 Ford F150 TailLights

Well, I had half a can left over from Kurt's lights so I got some more and decided to do the F150 lights since I was bored today.
I am pleased with the outcome. What do you think?

Remove the bolts above and below the tailgate cable to get the lights out.

Lights ready for sanding. They have lots of scratches, so I am sanding them first.

First coat of nite shades VHT applied.

Just finished buffing them out with the buffer and applying a coat of wax.

yeah.. if i have any money left after vacation mine are getting done. how much is this going to cost me Scott?

looks good but your not suppose to use wax on clear coat for the first 90 days polish only

Haven't had a problem yet, 4 Vehicles and counting. Some have been done more than 6 months and no problems. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Guess I am doing something right, or I am just lucky. Why you not supposed to use wax?

Duplicolor site says:

- You can use any lacquer aerosol over or under Duplicolor Clear Coat. Just don't mix enamels and lacquers.

- After your finished with all of your color coats make sure you lay down a good couple of coats of clear and let everything dry for 36 hours

- Wet sand out the orange peel with 2000 grit paper until the surface is dull and smooth. With small parts like your working with 1500 will be too aggressive.

- After wet sanding use a buffing compound. A polishing or rubbing compound might be too aggressive. Look for one that can be used with a buffing wheel.

- Wax with any quality wax. No reason for a Carnuba.

Wet sanding isn't what creates the shine. Wet sanding smooths out any imperfections and the compound is what removes the light scratches from wet sanding.

probably around 30.00 for materials and bring some beer with you. Plan on spending about 4-6 hours with me too.

is the beer so we can get along for 4-6 hours? regardless i'm in... i get back from vacation on the 16th i think... don't go back to work until the 21st.. let me know when is good.

Yeah right. Non-turbo 4cylinder with no cruise control or power anything. It can wait til I'm back.

looks good! I was thinking about buying stock in this product since everyone is tinting their tails now...

Wow if I were closer, I'd take you up on that tail light tinting. I'm looking at a shade lighter, like a smoke tint. Tint shops around my way are $80 cheapest.
