| i have a weird thing for small, "ugly", older cars... found this for sale locally.. my plan would be to lower it, and turn it into a decently quick "rat rod" [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]its a 71 VW super beetle, they weigh in at 1980lbs (i would try to make it as light as possible) there are parts out the WAZOO for them, and there arent a ton of them running around.. this one has SOME rust, and certainly would be a project (engine wont turn over/needs new wiring) but i think i could get it for a good price.. and it could fit sideways in the back of my garage.. haha | |

| As a proud parent of a '74 Beetle. I say go for it. You really can get just about anything for them. | |

| annnddd... called the guy today and he had sold it.. knew the beetle was too good to pass up for the price...
but.. already have my sights on a new project..
guy still has this one, gonna go take a look this week, and if all goes well, will have it in my garage soon..
already has a lot of stuff done to it to make it decently quick, which will save on costs

| what are your all thoughts on registering it as an antique/classic? no inspection, but there are limits on driving it..
would like to hear from some guys with cars over 25 years old on what they do..
