| So I swapped my regular tires back on the Sky from the drag radials today. Looks like I have two wheel studs that are stripped on the same wheel. One holds the lug the other one the lug won't even grip. I probably overtorqued them putting them on Friday, they were all pretty rough taking off this morning.
Is this a huge PITA to replace? Not a fan of removing brakes unless I absolutely have to. Heck I don't even like replacing my own brake pads, not so much because it's difficult but just time consuming. If so, I assume I could baby it over to Glotfelty (3.4 miles) and have them replace them.

| Gotta remove the brake. That was my assumption. I will see if I feel motivated next weekend, if not to Glotfelty it goes. | |

| Hell by the time you would drive to Glodfelty and back you would be done.
BTW- do you have a torque wrench? If so, how many ft lbs did you go to?

| I don't but I usually borrow one. I go between 80-90 ft lbs. I am usually pretty accurate guessing. I'm going to buy one though. | |

| I have chrome too. 100 lbs seems a bit much but shouldn't break anything. I'm guessing I overtorqued, no other reason they'd strip like that that I can think of -- also doubt I went to like 120 lbs accidentally either. I've rotated my tires a couple times and they've been off when I painted my calipers. Otherwise it's not like they've been overused. Oh well I'll look at it next weekend, doing homework this weekend [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| 100 ftlbs is pretty much right on the mark... most imports... Mazda, Honda, Acura... ect are set at 80... VW n' Audi are primarily 75 unless its an SUV or "s" line. It could have been an over torque or under, but the more often lug nuts come on and off they slowly stretch the threads on the stud. I def wouldn't go any higher than 100... most trucks and suv's are rated for 120ftlbs or higher, especially the newer stuff.... Also as a side not to anyone putting on new wheels... RECHECK THE TORQUE AFTER 25-35 MILES! especially if you are using new lugs as well. With new against new the lug nuts do have a tendency to back off | |

| Here's the instructions from a guy off the Solstice forum:
Switching the studs is real easy on the front, but everything has to come off the upright to facilitate the R&R of the studs - all straight forward with hand tools. Same on rear, BUT there will be need for a deep 36mm (IIRC) socket for the half shaft nut and a soft faced HEAVY dead blow hammer to smack the shaft out of the hub as the hub is being removed from the upright. Having some serious air driving a real strong impact gun will make the rear a lot easier.
Any idea if Advance or anybody has loaner 36mm sockets? I only have up to 1" in SAE and I think 26 or 28mm in metric.

| Did you only replace front rotors when you went with your giant brakes? | |

| yep, got 3400 in the front brakes.. only replaced them and the calipers.. rotors are 15 inch, calipers are 8 piston. Dont have enough money to do the back yet. | |

| We're already front biased, I'd almost rather go 2 piston rear first. Then probably 4 piston fronts would be sufficient for me. 13" rotors all around.
Although, not knocking your setup, it definitely is beautiful. Just more than I need/want. I could use a little more front brake so I can powerbrake a little more at the line. At about 3200rpms I start to drive over what my brakes can hold.

| I really didnt care about the performance, just wanted them to look nice inside 20" wheels, I think I am going 6 piston on the back, with 14 inch rotors to save some money the next time around. | |

| They sure do look nice!
13/13 with 4 piston/2 piston should be sufficient for my stopping needs.

| These are the replacement studs. Unfortunately they're a bit longer so I ordered some open ended lugnuts too. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |
