There was a time, before we started taking on television with our web videos, that the fastest car I’d ever driven was a modified Corvette. The builder of that particular vehicle, a [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], was, and is insane. That car, a 2005 C6 Corvette, made 986 horsepower at the wheels and is most famous for initiating a highway drag race while on the 2006 [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] that began at 200 mph. Let me just say that again, in case you missed it. Mallet’s Corvette raced a modified Ford GT from 200 mph and won. From what I hear it topped out around 240. I don’t care who you are, that’s moving. While his work with Corvettes is widely known, my favorite of his packages are the V8-swapped Solstices, which turn into lighter, faster, scarier, Corvette killers. Well now, he’s got a new one.

Though Mr. Mallett has been laying low for a while, he was kind enough to drop TST a line today, and let us know exclusively that he’s back building terrifying death machines and will debut his new Solstice upgrade at this year’s SEMA show. This time, It’s based on the Solstice Coupe, and it’s called the Pit Bull. He thought, since we now do a show about modified cars, we might like it.

Under the hood is a 750 horsepower LS9 454 CID LS7 with 12.7:1 compression, with a Tremec T56 transmission. It weighs just 2,600 lbs, approximately 800 pounds lighter than the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], and features a unique adjustable coilover suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes, and gorgeous Mallett wheels. The body is lowered and widened, with a hood scoop big enough to swallow…. swallows.

Though the Pit Bull is still being developed, Chuck has mentioned the notion of us taking it for a little spin after SEMA, which is, coincidentally, when we will begin shooting the next season of [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. Excellent timing sir, we’ll see you there.

That is pretty cool. I am sure it will be totally uncontrollable! Would like to ride in one though. That much power and next to nothing weight would be awesome if it hooked!

2600 lbs seems optimistic. My Sky is like 2780 with the 4 cylinder.

They widened the body, so it should hook better than stock, I would assume they done that to add wider tires, and then they said they added those ceramic brakes, I bet that dropped a couple pounds, wonder how they lost the rest of the weight?
