Let me first say that the DA was REDICULOUS. I trapped 4mph more than I did at PRP in a 1400 DA. So that had alot to do with my times but I was tired of being down the list on the Z06 fastlist (was in 6th place) due to everyone else running in good air so I left my house at 4am to go to MIR.

I get there and its Kyle Lemish (fastest stock ZR1), Ranger (fastest stock Z06), Gary (fastest N/A Z06), and some guy with a chevy truck who drove all the way from florida. They were there to break records and then there is me with less than 40 passes at a track. lol While they were prepping the track we were BSing and I let the guys know that I'm pretty new to drag racing and I wont be offended if they tell me what I am doing wrong. I wanted to learn while I was there and hopefully hit a 10.3.

So first pass I am thinking, ok this is a new-to-me track and I dont know how the traction will be since its so cold....... Maybe I should launch at like 3K and work my way up. I get up to the line and said screw it. 4200 launch and it dead hooked. Well my clutch didnt like that and it didnt fully release but OMG it still pulled like a freight train and like I never felt before (what a rush). I look up at the board and see a 1.52 60' while I half heartedly shift to second because I didnt think the clutch would hold the 1-2. Clutch came back up after the shift. Now I'm thinking the run might still be good so I start loading my gears like normal. Get back to the pits and Gary comes straight over to shake my hand telling me how happy I was going to be. I told him I know it wasnt to great because my clutch was acting up. Then he said 10.14. Holly shit this car has a shot at 9's today!

So now I am excited because the car had more in it and I really thought I could pull a 1.4 short time to put it in the 9's (only 2 other N/A Z06s in the 9's). Well the next coulple runs the clutch was slipping but still cutting good 60's. One run I cut a 1.51 and it felt good and when I shifted to 4th......clutch didnt release. Still went 10.43 @114. Then I had a batch of bad driving. I missed a gear on 3 passes in a row. They said it was probably clutch related but I think I was trying to rush the shifts even though thats def not normal for me.

Wow, I am making this story way to long. Anyways, I decide to go for one more pass. I let the clutch cool for a while and wedged a board between the steering wheel and the cluch to keep the clutch depressed to help it cool. I tried something different on the next launch and released the clutch while I was still raising the RPM's. It was about a 4400 launch and felt great. The board says 1.45. This is it, my 10.0 or 9.9 pass!!! Shifts felt great and I didnt feel the clutch slipping like before. I come back to the pits and no one is cheering me on so I knew I didnt hit 9's. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Total bummer, it was a 10.18. The clutch must have slipped and I didnt realize. The slippage had to have come between the 60' and the 1/8. On the 1.52 60' I was 6.54 @108 in the 1/8. On the 1.45 I was 6.55 @ 107. Something happened there that killed the run. I am positive the car had a 9 in it with a better clutch. I am calling ACT tomorrow. It should hold 800tq and it acted up on every run. Maybe thats why they call it an ACT. lol

I didnt let Ranger or anyone run my car because my 60's were the lowest of the day and I feel shifting is my strong point. It was very interesting to see me and Gary run. He has the N/A Z06 record at 9.97 but he wasnt 60'ing well today. We were both trapping the same even though we have different setups. He is full bolt-on, with 3.90's, slicks/skinnies, and alot of weight reduction. But it worked out that we were pretty evenly matched power wise. Well he had the best pass of the enitre day at 10.11. I think I did well considering and it gave me a good comparison of where I am as a driver. My problem is consistancy. They are very consistant and know what do change after each pass. Gary didnt get alot of passes in because he snapped an axle so he was down for an hour. He had much faster in him. He normally 1.4x's.

Now I have to decide if I am happy with the car or if I want to go for the fastest N/A Z06. Forget the spray, I like the competition. I will probably never run in a DA like today but I leave ALOT of power on the table with the current setup. This setup would do the trick for me........ Milled heads, ported FAST, ported TB, lightweight wheels with skinnies up front, 3.90's, and alot of other weight reductions. I dont want to go with a bigger cam because I want it totally streetable. I weighed it today and it was 3345 with me in it. That can drop pretty easy. I think that setup would be a 9.8 car at sea level if I find a clutch to hold and continue to 1.4x. This is wishfull thinking because thats alot of money to put in her.

Here is who is faster than me on the list.......

Rattt g is the only one still on stock ratios. Gary and Sebast are bolt on cars with weight reduction.

Did any of you actually read this whole thing??? lol I have some incar video of the 10.14 and 10.18 run but I have to wait for the guy who let me borrow the gopro to send them. He also took an outside view of the runs.
