[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] well i been reading alot on converting it over to a LS1 .. And all i need to do so far is change out the ports and fuel injectors get a good tune and the book says it converts the engine into a LS1 . Alittle more horsepower and alot more torque grunts like Tim Allengrunt grunt grunt hahahaha if anyone finds more on this please let me know i want to read up on it more. Cause really it isnt that costly and easy to do myself except for teh tune ill need to get a email tune or take it somewhere to get it tuned .

You really can't make it an LS1 without a full conversion, but it's a Gen III engine and a lot of the parts are swappable.

Cams and heads is where you're going to get most of the power from, swap those over from an LS1 (or LS6 I believe). The intakes on those are swappable too, but I'm not sure how much you'll gain from that.

One thing to consider, an LS1 is a high horsepower medium-torque engine. You're going to sacrifice some torque in exchange for a lot of horsepower. May not matter, but if you tow you might care.

Your truck is a 5.3 right?

Even milling the head you wont pick up enough displacement to get to a 5.7. Your best bet would be to get a stroker kit.

The supercharger in that link has more displacement than any engine I've ever owned!
