but thanks for the look out- i wasn't sure if you were dealing with the camaros or not

You can def go intake and keep warranty. Headers on that car requires a tune an unless you find a dealership that doesnt car, they can void you warranty.

well starting to get the itch- hopefully the wife doesn't mind- lol
in the near future im going to be purchasing a CAI for the car... i've read a lot of people talking about adding decent power that you can feel and giving the car a little better sound... haven't found anything out of the ordinary price wise yet so still undecided on which one im going to get... will update once i figure it out-

also waiting on dave and scott to see what the powdercoated wheels look like to know if im going that route or another... b/c the guy i was going to get wheels/ tires off of sold them, and i missed one hell of a deal... so may be staying stock for a while- they don't look bad when cleaned up i guess...

cam... if you read this get some prices for intakes together- will also post in ur section

power mods will come... im not looking to do anything crazy- the car is plenty fast enough for the wife and I, but when i start going to the track with d-rod and the rest would like to run low 12's or even 11's eventually- however it's cheaper to do visual mods for the car shows i do and once again back to the warranty talk... im not going to take a chance in something happening and having to pay outta pocket for it... haven't heard to many problems with any low mile f-body- but im sure there are cases out there of it... but thanks for everyones input

got my car dyno'd saturday on a mustang dyno so numbers are a little low... but i thought they would be lower...

my best pull was my second pull and it put down 337HP/357TQ

I think if I can get what the HP gains of a CAI which usually calls for 15+ I should get over the 350HP hump...

However I like to do the calculations as to what a dyno jet reading would make and according to the guy who did my car he said their is a 10% increase on a dynojet... so those numbers would read out

370HP/392TQ (don't know if the conversion works on the tq gain or not)

Ive been on both a dyno jet (527rwhp) and rhodeheavers mustang dyno (515rwhp). The reason mustang dyno's read a little lower is because they are load bearing. A good way to see how acurate a dyno is to figure out the drivetrain loss. Sometimes dynojets will show only like a 10% drivetrain loss where it should be at least 15%. With an auto tranny it will be more like 18% loss. I personally like mustang dynos a little more. Even though the numbers are normally lower they are more accurate. Your car is showing about a 17% loss so that pretty accurate and good numbers for your car. Your TQ number is awesome!

I would love to hear what a set of Kooks 1 3/4" LTs would sound like on your car with your catback and a CAI. A tune will definitly help get to your 350# once you put the CAI on but you might as well wait till warranty is up. How much longer do you have on warranty?

I bet a mild cam, longtubes, cai, tune, and removal of the AFM system will put you over 420rwhp. That would make it sick fast and sound amazing. Nothing like a black Gen5 camaro with a lope and deap rumble.

BTW- flashlight drags are next sunday. If you want to run your car stop by my house and we will put on my old set of wheels/DR's on your car.

i probably am not going to be able to make it over for it... i've been running all weekend this weekend and next saturday im taking a trip down to cross lanes (3hrs) so im going to have to leave early and get back late... but i am starting to get hooked on the power portion now... i do want to get with you to look over some stuff, b/c when it comes to cams, i'd have to take the word of someone else b/c i know nothing about cams...

and talking up there about cams they said there is a lot of work removing afm stuff, but i'll read up on it...

Since Tara will be driving the car too I wouldnt go with an aggressive LSA. I am sure she would not like the surging. From what I read you can go with a pretty mild cam and still keep AFM. So the question is, where do you draw the line where the HP is worth the money. I will talk to the guy that did my cam and see what his opinion is on the AFM stuff. I'm sure he can do it (if you want him to do your cam) so my opinion would be to take it out and go with the biggest cam you can that will keep good drivability.

Dude I am so excited to hear this thing when you get done with it. My car sounds mean but doesnt have than "Im goin to kick your ass" look like your camaro does.

This sounds like a good cam with good drivablity according to TSP. They didnt list the specs because Texas speed doesnt want anyone to steal them. I guess they are leading the way when it comes to the L99. Check out their other cams too. They have cams that work with AFM but this one does not.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

They also offer cam packages that include lifters and everything to remove AFM.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Price estimate

$1,100 - Cam/lifters/pushrods/afm delete

$1,200 - Long tubes with catted X (cheaper if you go offroad midpipe)

$1,200 - Tuning and install (just guessing here)

So I would guess you would be shy of $4K in this build and pick up about 150hp at the flywheel.

I am going to see what all will work on your car that I have lying around. You may be able to use my stock springs, pushrods, and my headers/h-pipe. My exhaust will save you a ton of money if it fits. Alot of LS3 guys use LS7 exhaust because it picks up almost the same amount of power as the $1200+ systems. People sell them for about $350 but I will give you a deal if they fit.

that sounds good... i've created a project on my computer with build information that i'm going to start putting everything in to try and find the best bang for my buck... i've also been considering a supercharger for the car but i'm a big fan of the rumble... thanks for all the info... i'm going to be able to park this in the garage we rent for work this winter but don't know if i'll do any engine mods besides CAI this winter... plan on getting the appearance mods done up and then save up to buy and install of the parts at once... but the plan is the biggest part for me... i don't like to jump into something without some previous knowledge so i've got some reading up to do...

after looking up stuff im def. going to leave the afm... texas speed has 3 that work with it and i'm thinking about going with the AFM2 when i'm ready to buy... seems like a good deal... and they also have a set of long tubes that are very affordable... now i wan't impressed with their prices on their cold air intakes...

but i think im going to go this route instead of trying to put a sc on it... too much money for what i'm wanting to do with it...

so plans are sinsister body kit, black powdercoat wheels/ black chrome wheels, tint the lights, CAI, LT, Cam, and tune- and with the cam i have to have a cam phaser limiter kit...

- lowering springs will most likely be added sometime depending on how low the body kit sets the camaro down... so with all this without installation i'm looking at like $3200 and the only installation i'll have with be the LT and cam and lowering springs b/c i have a guy that is willing to do the body kit for me as soon as race season is over...

and of course I'll need a tune when i get this all done...

the guy you know d-rod does he do installs and tunes would like to find someone reliable to do the install... i don't know if rodeheavers would do it or not since it's not a mustang- lol

Rhodehever will do it but Sam is a LS guy and Ive never felt more comfortable leaving my car with anyone. He has my car right now actually. He called me tonight and I asked him if he would be interested in doing your car and he definitly is. He can do the tuning on it but honestly I would get Brian Herter to come and do a street tune or send an email tune.

You would make huge power with a blower but your car is straight american muscle that doesnt need F/I to be fast.
