| Alright everyone. Next up for some wrench time is my 1993 F150 XLT Lariat Specs: 1993 Ford F150 XLT Lariat Comfort Package Towing Package Offroad Package ~183,000 miles 5.8L 351 Windsor V8 AODE Transmission Original North Carolina Truck (no rust) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]So my goal is to improve my 8mpg city and 14mpg highway and doing some research i should do the following: Cold Air Intake: most likely going to go with the K&N $250.00 [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Throttle body spacer: not getting the most expensive one, Most likely Motorvation $90.00 [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Most expensive section will be the exhaust Headers: I really like the BBK on my mustang, so i want to keep using them $270.00 [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Next is a Y-pipe since mine is the same as....well its pretty religious (holey if you didn't get that lol) Magnaflow makes a y-pipe with a replacement cat $239.00 [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I already have a cat-back so im fine there, but as i was reading, vehicles over 70,000 are prone to needing new O2 sensors, and NTK has them for $44.00 each [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]What i read was that when O2 sensors get old they will send the incorrect signals to the computer. They will tell the computer to increase the fuel to air ratio to keep the engine protected. this will put unnecessary fuel in the engine. The next section is upgrading the ignition. MSD Coil for $33.00 [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Then cap/rotor, with plugs and wires. my plan is to go with an msd distributor but i figure that one can wait. so in total its gonna run me about $1700 to completely overhaul a lot of my trucks intake, exhaust and electrical, but as much as i spend, it should keep my truck running smoother, and longer right?

| Sounds like a pretty good list there. Might also look to see if they have a tune or chip for that truck! With the mods you might be able to increase a few more hp and get some mileage there. Just a thought. | |

| I really want a tune too! only problem is my truck is a pre-1996 and is OBD1. I can't find anything to tune it with [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] if i can find something, anything, to tune it with, it will be on my list lol | |

| I believe those years you have to think old school. They used to make a chip that you remove from the ECU on the truck. You order the "tuned" chip and replace yours with the new one. I had one on an old Police Interceptor. Made a huge difference. | |

| This one is a little pricey [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I have seen others for as low as $60. Just a thought, might make some difference. | |

| that sounds really familiar, do you watch Trucks TV on the weekends? I think they had a Gen1 Lightning and he did something like remove the computer, put the chip in the computer and it was tuned that way.
I'll look into that, thanks!

| MSD ignition components are great. When I had my Neon, I did the typical intake and exhaust... but the MSD coil pack and wires.. partnered with NGK plugs did more for it that the intake and others. I love the MSD stuff | |

| so i have been thinking. I'm going to rebuild an engine this summer to replace what i have in my truck already. but i don't care about fuel mileage anymore, i'd rather have more power.
so im going to get a 351 that has been pulled from another f150 and do the whole shebang to it. heads, intake, cam etc. I Just have to find the right combination for what i need.

because the plan is to rebuild a difference engine while im driving my truck. that way i can take my time to rebuild the other engine because i need my truck to drive to work. once the engine is rebuilt, i can do the swap

| Well i'm going to be swapping the 235/75/15 tires and stock 15" wheels on the truck. I'm looking at getting a highway and road specific/oriented tire for all the highway driving I do. So I figure I'm going to change from the 15" to a 17" wheel The two sets i've kinda narrowed down are these: American Racing AR898 [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]or the Enkei Performance RT6 [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |
